I need to do a full update about the situation with my eyes and the various surgeries I’ve had, but for now, here is a picture of me with my reading glasses on.
I’m going to use my old frames to get some cuter ones made.
Do you play Wordle?
I almost blew my Wordle streak yesterday.
I normally play in the mornings when I get up. The exception to that is if I happen to be up after midnight when the new puzzle drops.
Yesterday, I had an early nail appointment, and I got up at the last minute, so I was rushing in the morning and forgot to play until I noticed a message from my Wordle/Connections buddy, aka my babby daddy1 showing me his results from both puzzles, and I realized I had not played mine.
I would have been so sad if I had broken this streak.
I’m finding my kind of people on Substack
This is something I would say.
Keeping the subscription notifications on is like waiting for the instant gratification of likes, comments/replies, and follows on social media, and I’m trying to get away from that over here, so let me follow Tobi’s example.
I’ve only had racist trolls follow me here from my professional writing, but this bears repeating. Don’t come over here acting crazy, cause I be having time, OK?

What is happening in Chicago?
OK, I’m not as up-to-date on Chicago politics as I could be, but what in the hell is going on out there?
The entire Chicago Board of Education is resigning, a stunning development after months of acrimony that clears the way for Mayor Brandon Johnson to appoint a new board that will likely follow his orders — fire schools CEO Pedro Martinez, make a contract deal with the Chicago Teachers Union and take a loan to cover a city pension payment and the teachers’ contract this year.
Johnson’s staff confirmed Friday in an exclusive interview that the expected resignations of all seven board members are to come once he names replacements — which his office later said will be announced at a South Side church Monday morning. WBEZ and the Chicago Sun-Times first reported the possibility of resignations this past Monday.
In the interview, the mayor fought back against the idea that this was a power grab. In the face of a budget shortfall at CPS, Johnson said the historically underfunded school district needs more state money. That’s rather than relying on cuts or furloughs — options Martinez has privately floated to make ends meet this year.
In other news, Power Book II: Ghost ended on Friday night. I’m going to give you guys a couple of days to get caught up before I fully go in on this shit because as I said to my buddy Panama Jackson, what the entire fuck?
I’ll be out enjoying LA’s second summer today.
I hope your Saturday is lovely.
Remind me to tell this story in this space one day.
