maybe i shouldn’t listen to sade when i’m in my feelings
sade + feelings + i got a condo + raising teenior citizens
I’ve been listening to this Sade playlist I found on YouTube because it’s a good writing and editing playlist. Sade’s music is classical and timeless, and there is something to be said about an artist whose music a vast majority of us know every lyric of.
There other thing about Sade, though, is that she can easily put you in your feelings.
I’ve been digging through the crates, as I mentioned before, and finding old writing and scribbles in notebooks and on hard drives all over the place. I’ve been reading through some of these while the Sade soundtrack is playing, and y’all.
I have been deep in my feelings multiple times in the last few days.
There’s something to be said about muses and inspiration and the feelings and emotions attached thereto. Stick a pin in it, and I’ll come back to it later.
i got a condo
Completely by accident, while looking for a place to rent, I stumbled upon something I wanted to buy, and I am absolutely in love with it.
I still have some of the same complaints about moving, which was an expensive hassle and compounded by the fact that I moved my mom in with me, so combining two households into one has meant a lot of decisions being made on what stays and what goes.
I’m currently in the throes of unpacking and organizing, and figuring out what goes where.
Also, there has to be some symbolism in the fact that this move happened nearly a year to the day I moved out of my place in Cheviot Hills and into the sublet by the beach.
I don’t have time to figure that out right now.
raising teenior citizens
I tell my mom all the time that I’m raising a teenior citizen. She gets a kick out of being referred to as a teenior citizen and refers to me as her daughter-mom all the time. I’m strict, but she’s adapting and adjusting and learning to let someone else be in control, which is a good thing, cause this my gotdamn house.
And because I’m raising a teenior citizen, I’m always cooking to make sure she eats. Remind me to share with y’all some of the amazing one pot meals I’ve been creating.
They are delicious.

I’ve been trying to come up with the words to describe what I felt watching Benito Bowl, and they are still escaping me at the moment, but others have been able to add to the moment better than I can at the moment:
Danté Stewart writes, “And please do not miss this: there is a profound and deeply spiritual connection between Kendrick Lamar’s performance last year and Bad Bunny’s this year. The vehicles, the landscape, the storytelling, the dancing, the diversity, the moral and political clarity, the spiritual and emotional roots, the inclusion. It is as if they are telling us that all of our oppression and erasure is connected, and that oppression and erasure is all of our fight.”
And then there is Hakim, who writes, “But that history also teaches us something else: not all art functions the same way, and not all cultural moments are doing the same kind of political work. There is a difference between art embedded in collective struggle and spectacle produced within the machinery of global racial capitalism. That distinction matters.
In “Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Performance Bridges Culture And Politics,” my girl Anoa J. Changa writes, “Benito didn’t pander with generic statements like 'we’re all immigrants,' opting instead to represent the fullness of the nations and cultures that make up the United States and the Americas. At a time of historic erasure, it gave us what we needed most—community care, family togetherness, and self-determination.”
I love it when Kirsten West Savali writes. For ContrabandCamp, she wrote, “Audre Lorde Taught Us: ‘Survival Is Not Theoretical’”
Speaking of writing on ContrabandCamp, Stephen A. Crockett Jr. wrote, “Trump Administration Doesn’t Want Us to Call Medgar Evers’ Racist Assassin a ‘Racist’”
Dr Stacey Patton, the genius that she is, wrote Why Black Americans Should Be Paying Attention To ICE Raids And Global Criminal Networks In Oklahoma
I interviewed Fee and Stix yesterday. Stay tuned for more on that!
I just finished watching the first three seasons of Dark Winds, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am now obsessed with learning more about the Dine culture.
Megan Thee Stallion showed out for Klay’s birthday this past weekend. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for hers this coming weekend. I love that they are so nerdy and in love with teach other. My makes me smile every time I see them. May Ciara’s prayer bless Megan and Klay as well.
Here’s that Sade playlist I was talking about.

1) Yeah, Sade will do that. The same thing for Coldplay except for the exact opposite. Do Not listen to Coldplay at night
2) congratulations on the new place
3) Teenoir citizen is adorable
Thank you for sharing this playlist!! I needed it in my life!
