I didn’t do shit today, and I don’t feel bad about it.
Sometimes, it’s necessary to let my mind and body rest.
I slept in late; yapped on the phone with my friend; drank an iced coffee at noon; and ate an all protein breakfast (eggs, bacon, and a sausage patty), and spent the afternoon reading and puttering around online.
Like a lot of people, I was front and center tonight for the boxing match between Jake Paul, who is 27 years old, and a 58-year-old Mike Tyson.
Listen, I grew up watching Mike Tyson fight, and I’ve seen recent videos of him working out in the gym, so I was not prepared for how old and outmatched he looked in that ring.
He lost the fight, but he didn’t get knocked out, and the way Jake Paul was talking after the fight, it seemed like he may have even taken it a little easy on someone who he considers to be an idol and personal hero.
Like, what young boy who grew up wanting to box actually wants to say he whooped Mike Tyson in a fight?
Never mind. Don’t answer that.
They probably all want to say that, and now, even if Jake Paul doesn’t say it himself, there is a certain contingent of the population who are not going to let us hear the end of this.
I’m already exhausted at the thought of it.
Moving update
I still haven’t found a new apartment. A lot of the ones I’m finding have something missing, and it’s not that I think I need to have an entirely perfect apartment; I just have a list of must haves that I don’t want to budge on because what happens when you settle is after a while, you start to wish you had gone for what you really wanted.
I want covered parking, preferably gated. I want a kitchen with a dishwasher and space for a little dinette set. I don’t want carpet. I would prefer to be on the first floor. Because i have a dog, being a duplex or bungalow situation would be ideal, but it’s not a must. Location, however, matters a great deal. I’d prefer to stay on the westside of L.A. if I can. In unit laundry is a plus, but the building should have on site laundry at the bare minimum.
Apartment hunting is tedious and time consuming, and I have run into a lot of time wasters while doing it.
Please send thoughts, prayers, and any leads you may have on cool spots in West L.A. that take dogs and have what I’m looking for.
the end of an era
I deactivated my Twitter account last night. It’s truly the end of an era. I’ve been on that app since it launched and you needed an invite to get on. I learned how to social media on Twitter.
Elon really came along and ruined a good thing, but I’m not going to sit here and cry about it because I already knew my time in that space was growing more and more limited as Apartheid Clyde let the racists take over.
The other side of the game is Substack being a space where I can do all the things I’ve been doing on other social media platforms right here in house. I like that.
I like that I am coming across so many good writers with so many good thoughts.
There doesn’t seem to be that push to go viral here, so everyone is just sharing what’s real and meaningful to them or occurring to them in that moment, and it’s so refreshing. It reminds me of what social media was like before the attention economy.
other bits
I’m still working through my personal thoughts about the field of journalism and what it means to me and how we move forward, and as soon as I have managed to put them together in some coherent form, I will share them here.
I have an idea to do a serialized book in this space, one chapter per week. To start with, I’m going to write the book people have been begging me to write since my old school blog in the early 2000s: The Pusha Tales.
I scraped all the old posts about that entire crew off my old blog, and I’m going to use them as my starting point, so wish me luck.
Other things I want to write about:
Getting back on Ozempic after being off it for most of the year
The dickology series I have planned based off the dickology post I wrote last year
Some of my sex work stories
A long overdue writing about my local friend circle and our shenanigans
With all those writing ideas, I obviously have no excuse for not posting, right?
I hope your Friday was good and your Saturday is even better.
I'm looking forward to the dickology series, I'm so nasty. That how I started following you was reading you nasty stuff & cussing!😁! You git a lot of ideas to work with...stay busy & entertaining queen! I'll take all I can get! Even tho I'm sporadic in attendance! Have you heard of the fan base app by Isaac Hayes lll? Spoutible app may be boring!
Excited for a chapter a week ❤️❤️
