I've all but quit McDonald's as of late. Aside from the mcgriddle and maybe the McMuffin, other fast food chains do many things better than mcDs. The milkshake machine conspiracy was the final straw
Precisely...I read somewhere that they are keeping them broken on purpose to make money off the maintenance. I've been trying to find a link to the article I read but I can't find it
Taylor, the company that makes the machines, was the only company that could make repairs. That was until “Kytch” found a software bug that INTENTIONALY broke the machines. Kytch then made an exploit that worked around the bug, allowing the franchise owners fix their machines themselves. Obviously, Taylor didn’t like that. This link below isn’t the article that I read, but should provide more info.
The Taylor company also went as far as stealing Kytch’s exploit workaround to sell it franchise owners themselves. Even IF the Taylor company isn’t a subsidiary of MacDonalds, MacDonalds is standing behind the company and essentially abetting this corporate malfeasance. So yeah, I’m done with MacDonalds.
This made me giggle bc fr, also I do like the fish filet more than any other option besides fries but my friends love to clown me for it😭 anyways, I loved this.
I'm not even that big on their fries because you have to get them hot enough for them to be good, and McDonald's is notorious for passing some lukewarm fries out that drive-thru window.

How would they make money off the maintenance? Now I need to do a deep dive.

It's gotten to the point that I can sit down at restaurants for the and price or cheaper to eat fast almost food
They are definitely beginning to charge sit-down restaurant prices for drive-thru food.
