The other night, I made Trader Joe’s Barbecue Teriyaki Chicken and their Japanese Fried Rice. I served it with some stir-fried vegetables, also from Trader Joe’s. I steamed them. This was delicious.
Cuban Food
My friend and I went out to eat Cuban food one night. I had the lechon. It came with moros (black beans and white rice mixed) and a simple salad with some of the best vinaigrette I’ve had all year. I fucked this food up.
Birria tacos
I got a birria taco plate from the neighborhood taco joint, and it was slapping. Three birria quesatacos (sometimes called quesabirria tacos), rice and beans. Consomme was on the side, but if I’m being honest, I rarely dip in the consomme because I like the tacos just as they are.
The lazy girl’s chicken pot pie
One night, I got the bright idea to make a chicken pot pie using canned biscuit dough for the crust.
I used the meat from a rotisserie chicken, a package of frozen peas, carrots, and green beans, two cans of cream of chicken soup, and a little milk.
This was such a lazy adventure that I didn’t even roll the biscuits all the way out. I used the Grands biscuits, and I put eight stretched biscuits in a 15” cast iron skillet for the bottom crust. I put those in the oven for about 10 minutes to let it cook just a little bit so it wouldn’t be doughy once all the filling was put on top. I added the filling, put eight stretched biscuits on top, and baked it until the crust was nice and brown.
It was fucking delicious. I ended up freezing half of it, because it was huge, so that’s going to make a good dinner when I decide to have it again.

wine for dinner
One night, me and the same friend that went to the Cuban restaurant went to a wine bar and participated in a wine share. It was awesome. Wine was my dinner that night because I only ate off a charcuterie board, but I drank a lot of wine. Here are all the wines I drank. I had about half a glass of each. The Riesling and the Cabernet Franc were our contributions. Each participant shared one bottle of their choice.

beans, neckbones, and cornbread
I love it when my mama makes beans. Bonus points if she makes cornbread in a cast iron skillet as she did on this night. I cut a hunk of that buttery cornbread and put my beans on top. There was yellow rice too. Delicious!
breffis
scrambled eggs with cheese, hot sausage, and potatoes O'Brien. My cousin Kiki made this for me one morning.
chili cheese fries
Me and Kiki wanted some chili cheese fries like the ones we used to get from Lucy’s on Imperial and Western (by our granny house) when we were younger. I know you can’t see them under all that chili and cheese, but the fries are there.
