The way you frame Kobe's redemption arc as his greatest achievement hits different than typical sports hagiography. Most people either ignore the 2003 incident completly or use it to dismiss everything else, but examining how someone confronts their worst moment and actually transforms is way more interesting. I remeber feeling similar dissonance watching athletes I idolized face real consequences. That tension between acknowledging harm and recognizing growth is uncomfortable but necessary.
