sleepy girl, busy life
if I could spend the entire weekend just catching up on sleep, I would
It’s Saturday, which has significance for a lot of people who work a “regular” Monday through Friday work week, but for those of us who work non-traditionally, there are times when it doesn’t quite hit the same, and so it is in that spirit that I use this genius Maggie Smith gif. RIP to this legend.
British stage and screen actress Maggie Smith, the “Downton Abbey” and “Harry Potter” star who numbers two Oscars, three Emmys and countless stage awards to her credit, died Friday in London. She was 89.
In her late 70s, Smith drew an entirely new legion of fans thanks to her starring role in the hugely successful series “Downton Abbey,” a hit for ITV, PBS’ “Masterpiece” and around the world. She picked up two Emmys and was nominated for two more for her role as the Dowager Countess.

Sean Combs the “alleged” serial abuser
The word “alleged” is in quotation marks for a reason. The word “alleged” is doing a lot of heavy lifting these days when it comes to Sean Combs.
A few hours after my latest column about Diddy went live, a new lawsuit against him was reported.
A Florida model alleges in a new lawsuit that Sean “Diddy” Combs paid for her to travel overseas with him for years, pressured her to have sex with other men and women, and plied her with drugs and alcohol that caused her to pass out.
In one instance at Combs’ house in Los Angeles, the complaint alleges, she was drugged into unconsciousness and was impregnated.
The woman, unidentified in the court documents, accuses Combs of recording some of their sexual encounters and controlling her. She also alleges that his staff harassed her over the phone after she became pregnant, repeatedly telling her to get an abortion. (LA Times)
As I said in my column about Combs, I’m not even sure there is any amount of rehabilitation that would work for Sean Combs.
had some thoughts as well.Sean Combs’ kink isn’t freaky sex. Sean Combs’ kink is power.
Rape and sexual assault are not about sexual desire; they are about power. Forcing people into sexual situations they do not want to be in isn’t so much about having a good time as it is exerting and displaying power by way of taking something away from someone else and humiliating them in the process.
That is Sean Combs’ kink.
That’s not kinky sex. That’s depravity.
explains how Cassie’s lawsuit was the lawsuit of “a former abused employee, and she sued his businesses and not him personally, which is huge and something I had not thought about. Many people are still reeling, asking how he could do such things and why he did “no one peak up?” It’s simple: if everything we have learned turns out to be accurate, Diddy is an abuser. The scale of his harm is breathtaking in scope, but much of what he is accused of doing happens in communities worldwide. Those abusers don’t have his money, power, or network, but somehow, like him, they often get away with their behavior. I wanted to put some energy into helping folks understand where this behavior comes from. To do this, I had a conversation with anti-rape feminist Wagatwe Wanjukiis. Wagatwe is an antirape feminist theorist and activist best known for her work on Title IX and campus sexual assault. You can listen to the conversation below.
Over the past year we’ve learned some disturbing things about music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs and how he has mistreated women. I could look at his case from several view points, but since I specialize in employee rights and building healthy work cultures, I’ll start there.
A few months ago, I wrote an article about Diddy’s settlement with Cassie, which covered how her case was formulated and why she sued his businesses and not him. She didn’t sue as his former abused lover. No, Cassie sued as a former abused employee. Well a few days before Sean Combs was arrested in New York on various charges, Dawn Richard, another employee sued him and his companies for mistreatment, hazardous work conditions, and the withholding of wages.
We don’t talk enough about how much of a classic Heavy D’s “Big Daddy” is.
This song always gives me an instant mood lift when I hear it.
on slowing down
I came to this realization a few months ago when I realized I was reading books so fast and reading so many that the storylines were a blur and blending into each other.
Then I asked myself who I was in a race with, and I when I realized it was no one, I landed right where

when you are creative with many talents and interests
why can’t we be everything?
The plan this weekend is to get some more writing done; make my way through some of the articles and blog posts I have bookmarked for later reading; conquer some laundry; take my doggie to the beach; sleep; drink coffee; and generally just be fabulous.
Here’s hoping your Saturday goes well.
Thank you so much for quoting me in your article ♥️
