Miscellaneous notes:
Love is an action. Yes, it an emotion, but it is an emotion that requires action. It is not passive. You have to do the work, but when you do the work? When you dig in even when it’s painful and uncomfortable? It’s always worth it.
Did y’all read about the list of “racial slurs” allegedly compiled by the Black Student Union at Auburn University? I put "racial slurs” in quotes because the phrase “racial slurs” is doing a lot here. This list made me laugh.
If you are not already familiar, Brooke Obie is a brilliant cultural critic. I’m late sharing this, but her piece “The Grammys, the Oscars and the prison of the white imagination” is well worth the read and the share. Support Black women writers.
I wrote a letter to Megan Thee Stallion on her birthday because I wanted to love on her a little bit.
I also wrote about how professionalism standards and dress code policies help to uphold white supremacy.
I’ve also been pretty good about updating my personal blog as of late. The daily updates are actually pretty fun to do, as I start the post in the morning and add random thoughts to it as the day progresses. If you want to look inside the mind of a creative person, this is where to do it.
Ben Stein is UNSERIOUS but so serious. With his entire chest, he said he misses the days when the mammy was on the syrup bottle. Bitch.
Remind me to write something about impostor syndrome. It’s a thing.
See y’all tomorrow.
