For real this time.

I have been saying we need to bring back personal blogging, and at the same time, I have been neglecting my own personal blog. I am a walking contradiction.

I’m working on fixing that, however, so expect more regular updates.

I’m working on a process that will allow me to ramp up to daily updates here at off the record. Your encouragement and active participation in this endeavor is appreciated.

New York Mayor Eric Adams indicted on federal criminal charges

In case you missed it last night, New York Mayor Eric Adams was indicted on federal criminal charges, and he now has the dubious distinction of being the “first mayor in modern New York city history to be charged while in office,” according to the New York Times.

The details of the indictment are expected to be announced at some point today.

Meanwhile, Twitter wasted no time roasting Adams, who has been the butt of many jokes since he took office.

Yesterday’s headlines

• The woman pictured above got into an argument with her 13-year-old daughter. The altercation turned physical, and as her daughter was walking away from her, she shot her. She then told her daughter to lie to police and say she was shot by an intruder in their home. Good fucking grief. (WaPo)

  • This heffa was on Twitter within the same hour the shooting happened (police responded at 4:50 p.m. ET. The timestamp in the pic is PT)

Some people should just go straight to hell. She is one of them.

• A Metro bus in Los Angeles was hijacked by a person armed with a gun. One passenger was killed. This is why I refuse to ride Metro. It was unsafe 10 years ago, and it’s even more unsafe now. (LA Times)

Random bits and pieces

• The only Wonder Woman I recognize and acknowledge.

• This tweet really resonated with me, and I may expand upon it in another post, but for now, I will say that this echoes my thoughts on friendship, and I’ve said this so much recently and in the past that I think I need to put it on a t-shirt.

• Shannon Sharpe falling on an anti-Black woman trope at his big ass age. He’s never beating the “he doesn’t like Black women” allegations.

  • The person he is trying to clown is using a picture of Megan Thee Stallion as their profile picture. He saw a picture of a Black woman and immediately dug into anti-Black woman tropes to insult her.

  • Y'all better not ever tag me in a post with this raggedy ass buffoon again.

  • This is the same man who just a few weeks ago staged a whole "accidental IG live" sex session so he could prove to his internet fathers that he's not gay.

  • When I tell you I haven't been a fan since he was cackling like a hyena and rubbing his feet together as Gary Owen told the whole world how he intentionally inflicted harm on his Black wife, please believe me.

  • This man is 56. Please be fucking for real.

  • Someone in the comments said he is built like a deep breath, and I laughed at that for like five minutes.

Final thoughts

I’m working on a lot of commissioned writing this week. I’m blessed to be able to still work as a freelance writer in this economy and actually make a decent living at it, so I’m always going to give praise for that.

The thing I’m working on is balancing paid assignments with working on off the record, which is my baby.

Two days in a row is progress though.
