Breakfast is what’s for dinner over here tonight.
I love having breakfast for dinner, It’s quick, easy, and simple. Tonight, I made scrambled eggs with spinach, feta, and everything bagel seasoning. I ate that with two Trader Joe’s chicken sausage patties and some sliced avocado. It was delicious and satisfying.
High-protein meals are an important part of my day because I take Ozempic for my Type 2 diabetes, and eating meals high in protein helps me feel satisfied for a longer period.
As you are probably aware, a lot of people take Ozempic for weight loss because the drug works by slowing down the emptying of your stomach. For diabetics, the result is that your blood sugar doesn’t spike as high after meals, and you don’t feel hungry for a long while because it mimics a hormone that tells your brain you are full.
That last part is why although it is not technically approved for weight loss, a lot of doctors prescribe it as a weight loss drug.
I honestly don’t know how the people taking it for weight loss do it. My dosage is .5 mg, and when I tell you that I often have to remind myself to eat, please believe me.
From what I understand, a lot of the people who take it for weight loss are taking 1mg or above every week. If I have to remind myself to eat, I’m guessing those people are close to starving.
I’m seeing the benefits of being on it though. My blood sugar readings are much lower. I don’t eat as much, and I don’t feel the need to eat as much, which is huge.
The side effects I’ve experienced with it have been minimal, and most of them occurred during my first few weeks on the drug. I don’t get sick on it often, and the one time I got really sick, I later realized it was because I used a pen that I should have thrown away.
Eating smaller meals every few hours instead of three big meals a day helps out a lot. You have to drink a lot of water while taking Ozempic because it can dehydrate you, and being dehydrated reduces the positive effects of the drug.
I didn’t mean for this to turn into an Ozempic commercial, however.
I just wanted to talk about my eggs, avocado, and sausage dinner because it was delicious.
What was for dinner at your house?
Miscellany
Lady loved the dog food I made her. Score one for mommy! Just to experiment, I added some kibble to it to see what would happen, and as expected, she ate around the kibble. However, she was very content after eating, which made me happy. I watched her get whatever the dog version of the ethnic fatigue is.
The sky looked crazy at sunset because of the fire burning in the Palisades. I neglected to take a picture of it, but the smoke up against the final burning stages of the sun made it look like something out of an “end of days” movie, and honestly, this truly is the end of days.
I’m trying to perfect my sweet potato pancakes, currently. I’m OBSESSED, they’re SO bomb AND carb free. I’ll keep ya posted (IF you like sweet potatoes, ofc). 😊
Last night I had the teriyaki chicken from TJ’s, except I only used one of the sauce packets and added some spinach and brown rice. I do have some navy bean soup but ima have that for lunch today and freeze the rest as I am tapped out on navy bean soup 😂
